What is infertility?

Infertility is typically defined as the inability to become pregnant after 12 months of regular, unprotected intercourse (or after 6 months for women over age 35). It can result from a variety of factors affecting either partner and may involve hormonal, structural, or lifestyle-related causes.

At Jersey Women’s Care Center, infertility care begins with a thorough evaluation to better understand what may be impacting your ability to conceive.

Who needs infertility care?

You may benefit from infertility evaluation and treatment if you:

  • Have been trying to conceive without success
  • Experience irregular or absent menstrual cycles
  • Have a history of endometriosis, fibroids, or pelvic infections
  • Have had multiple miscarriages
  • Are over age 35 and trying to conceive
  • Have a known reproductive or hormonal condition
  • Want to proactively assess your fertility

Early evaluation can help identify potential challenges and open the door to more effective treatment options.

What happens during an infertility evaluation?

Your evaluation begins with a detailed discussion of your medical history, menstrual cycle, lifestyle, and any prior pregnancies or fertility concerns. Your provider may recommend diagnostic testing such as hormone level blood work, ovulation tracking, pelvic ultrasound, or imaging of the uterus and fallopian tubes.

In some cases, your partner may also be advised to undergo testing, such as a semen analysis, to ensure a comprehensive assessment.

Based on the findings, your provider develops a personalized treatment plan. This may include lifestyle recommendations, ovulation induction, or coordination with fertility specialists for advanced treatments like intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF), if needed.

If you’re ready to explore your fertility or have been trying to conceive without success, schedule a consultation at Jersey Women’s Care Center today by calling the office or booking online.
